Error description
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail Data Protection for Lotus Domino might be unable to inactivate old backups of Domino transaction log files, when the number of objects, eligible for inactivation, exceeds the value of the TxnGroupMax option. Note: The TxnGroupMax option is defined on the Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Server for the node that performs the backups. This problem appears to manifest only when using the TSM API version 6.3. Data Protection Versions Affected: All versions of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail Data Protection for Lotus Domino, when used with the Tivoli Storage Manager API version 6.3 Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: TSM Domino transaction log file inactivation
Local fix
When this problem occurs, follow these steps to temporarily increase the value of the TxnGroupMax option for this node on the TSM Server. 1. From the TSM Server console issue the command: q node NODE_NAME f=d and take note of the current value for the Transaction Group Max Note: The NODE_NAME to change should be the node associated with the Domino transaction log backups. 2. Update this node with a new value (65000) for this option using the command: update node NODE_NAME txngroupmax=65000 3. Execute the command: domdsmc inactivatelogs 4. Restore the initial value of the TxnGroupMax option (from step 1).
