Error description

  • Error Description￘
    When the Datapower appliance is configured to use SSLProxy to
    handle traffic, having slow DNS responses may cause the
    appliance to restart.
    

Local fix

  • Local Fix￘
    Changing the system to use a fixed TCP/IP address rather then a
    hostname may avoid the problem from occurring. If the traffic
    being handled by SSLProxy is HTTP, then using a XMLFirewall
    instead of SSLProxy may prevent the issue from occurring.
    

Problem summary

  • Affected are customers of all firmware releases, using SSL Proxy
    service with a backend specified as a host name, resolved via
    DNS.
    
    In some cases, especially if the DNS lookup is slow, the
    appliance may hang for about two minutes and ultimately restart.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The fix is available in 4.0.1.12, 4.0.2.8 and 5.0.0.1
