Error description

  • Under rare conditions a MSCS cluster volume might be configured
twice for reconcile or threshold migration. In this case the HSM
Monitor Service will fail to run reconcile or threshold
    migration on any volume.
The following error message is logged in the
    hsmmonitor-admin.log file:
ANS27425E: Reading volume configuration from registry failed.
    .
Running dsmhsmclc will fail with the same message.
Opening the reconcile or threshold migration panel in the HSM
for Windows GUI is also failing.
    .
The problems happens for example in the following case:
Configure reconcile or threshold migration for a cluster volume
on NODE1. This volume fails over to NODE2. On NODE2 the
reconcile or threshold migration configuration is removed from
this volume and re-added. This volume fails back to NODE1.
After that the duplicated configuration exists on NODE1.
    .
    Affected Products:
Tivoli Storage Manager HSM for Windows versions 6.3.0.0 and
    6.3.0.1
    .
    Customer/L2 diagnostics:
The hsmmonitor.log file contains an entry like:
    HSMMONITOR (113C:0F80) CExtensionUtils::mf_RecalcMountPat
    12-02-14 09:28:35.345 E: Double configuration in key
    'e72be49f-0121-48ad-bed4-456575e13749' for path: X:\
        Errno-value: 0x0300006f (E: Validation failed)
        Originator: <No originator information>
    .
    Additional Keywords: none
    .
Initial Impact: Reconcile and threshold migration are not
    working.
    .

Local fix

  • Open the Windows registry and locate the key for the reconcile
configuration. The keys are named like
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\ADSM\CurrentVersion\HsmClient\
    Volume\xxx
where xxx denotes a 36 character string.
Note before you edit the registry it is strongly recommended to
    create a backup copy.
For each key look up the string value cPathToVolume. This is
the drive letter or mount point of the volume. Identify the two
keys in the registry that correspond to the failing volume. The
failing volume is mentioned in the log file as 'path'. Remove
    these keys from the registry.
Perform this on each cluster node.
