APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • TSRMsrv.dll is in use during upgrade.
    TPC upgrade failed on "data server",  SRA,  and GUI components.
    Failed with the following error:
    12/9/11 12:18:25 PM INS1016E: Cannot create file E:\Program
    Files\IBM\TPC\data\server\bin\win32_i386\TSRMsrv.dll (The
    process cannot access the file because it is being used by
    another process.).
    
    
    RECREATE STEPS:
    Difficult to recreate.
    

Local fix

  • 1.  Let the upgrade complete.  At the end of the upgrade you
    will get a summary panel of all the components that failed to
    upgrade.  Make note of the failed components so you can use this
    information in step 4.
    2.  Open a command prompt (Run as administrator) and change
    directory to e:\program files\IBM\TPC\tool\.
    3.  Run the command "updateReg.bat"
    4.  For each of the components that failed, see step 1, reset
    the version number to what it was prior to running the upgrade.
    When you are finished select "s" to save and exit.
    5.  Restart the installer (Run as administrator) to run the
    upgrade again.  Click through all the panel until the summary
    screen but don't proceed past the summary screen yet.
    6.  Using the Windows Services Control Panel stop the Data
    server service.
    7.  Rename the file that failed to be copied, E:\Program
    files\IBM\TPC\data\server\bin\win32_i386\TSRMsrv.dll
    8.  Allow the upgrade to proceed past the summary panel (click
    next or equivalent).
