Error description

  • The issue is that the when you look in the job management window
    the complete time correlates to when the scan completes,  not
    when the scan data is accepted by TPC.
    The processing time can run for an hour or two.  If customer
    goes off the complete time shown in the management window, they
    end up overlapping their scans which can result TPC crashing.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Those with TPC 4.2.2 or earlier who are      *
    *                 scanning filesystems on several agent hosts  *
    *                 at the same time, e.g. when a filesystem     *
    *                 scan schedule contained many SRA jobs        *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the filesystem scans were          *
    *                      finished, the Server had to process     *
    *                      results from many SRAs at the same      *
    *                      time. This caused delays in             *
    *                      processing of the individual scan       *
    *                      results. It could have been up to 2     *
    *                      hours for scan data to be processed     *
    *                      but the job panel displayed a much      *
    *                      shorter time. That was actually the     *
    *                      start and end time that the SRAs        *
    *                      reported. With this change the server   *
    *                      now sets the end time when the          *
    *                      processing is finished.                 *

Problem conclusion

  • With this fix the overall scan time of an individual scan job
    reflects the actuall time from starting the job until
    processing of the result has finished.
    
    The fix for this APAR is targeted for the following
    maintenance package:
