Error description
TPC GUI NAS definition panel rejects any NAS Server Vendor Name entry other than "Network Appliance" making it impossible to define NAS devices from other storage vendors as "Other NAS" as documented. Specifying "Network Appliance" when trying to define a connection to another vendor's NAS device will allow the connection to be saved but later during NAS Discovery jobs, the following error will prevent successful NAS discovery: 09/16/2011 11:31:31 NAA0077E Filer <IP_ADDRESS> has wrong vendor (19746) RECREATE STEPS: Under manual NAS entry, specify a vendor name other than "Network Appliance" and observe a "Status 12" pop-up error: SRV0853E: Internal Error. ________________________________________________________________ DB2 Version used for Server: N/A The defect is against component: 5608TC300 Server/Manager build/release (TPC): 4.2.1.174 Agent build/release (TPC): N/A Server/Manager (OS): N/A Agent (OS): N/A ________________________________________________________________ Problem as described by customer: Unable to add DataDomain NAS device to TPC. The fix for this APAR catches the null pointer condition and outputs an error message to the log that name resolution was not successful. Users should check the DNS settings on the agent machine and correct if necessary.
