APAR status

Error description

  • At seemingly random intervals, previously working subsystem
    performance monitors fail to start on schedule.  The TPC server
    issues the following message when the job fails to start:
    SRV0403E: the selected schedule does not exist.  The jobs are
    still present in the TPC GUI, can be edited, viewed, saved, etc;
    however once this problem happens, the user has to delete and
    re-create the monitor jobs to be able to start them again.  They
    fail to start both when prompted by the scheduler and when the
    customer tries to run them normally, and while newly created
    jobs will run for a while they will experience the same problem
    eventually.
    This is related to a defect with the TPC Data server's scheduler
    process.
    RECREATE STEPS:
    Create and schedule subsystem performance monitors in TPC 4.2.1,
    allow to run, observe eventual failure.

Local fix

  • Deleting/re-creating the failed jobs will temporarily allow
    performance data to be collected.  Editing/saving the jobs has
    also been seen to work around this problem.
