Error description
DETAIL OF PROBLEM: When TPC runs multiple XIV probes at the same time, a code defect makes it possible for LUN to host-port mapping data to be stored incorrectly. This defect presents itself to the user when numerous ALR4353W warnings are logged in the TPC alert panel at times when no XIV configuration changes are being made. A sample of such a warning is as follows: ALR4353W: One or multiple Data Paths from Host 1000000xxxxxxxxx to Volume *XIV-xxxxxx(ID:xx) on Subsystem XIV-xxxx-xxxxxxx-IBM are not longer available The fix for this APAR combined with the fix for APAR IC74840 will resolve the incorrect probe behavior and stop the alerts from happening when no configuration changes are being made on the XIV. RECREATE STEPS: Run a probe of multiple XIV subsystems at the same time and observe ALR4353W messages in the TPC alert log GUI panel. ________________________________________________________________ DB2 Version used for Server: N/A The defect is against component: 5648HWN01 Server/Manager build/release (TPC): 4.2.1.152 Agent build/release (TPC): N/A Server/Manager (OS): N/A Agent (OS): N/A ________________________________________________________________ Problem as described by customer: Erroneous ALR4353W data path change warnings Initial customer impact (low/med/high): med
Local fix
As a temporary workaround before the code fix is available, users can disable the "Advanced" subsystem probe(s) and run either a basic or standard probe. This avoids path state changes being detected and logged to the alert panel. Refer to the following TPC InfoCenter page for differences between the three types of subsystem probes available: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/tivihelp/v4r1/index.jsp ?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.tpc_V421.doc%2Ffqz0_r_groups_schedules_alerts. html
