IC75110: TPC DBSCHEMA UPGRADE FAILS WITH ERROR: THE JAVA CLASS COULD NOT BE LOADED JAVA.LAB.UNSUPPORTEDCLASSVERSIONERROR

4.2.1 Interim Fix 1 (November 2011) for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• While upgrading a remote TPC Database on AIX or Linux the
  TPC Installer picks up the Java home of an installed Common
  Agent if one is installed. The DBSchema portion of the installer
  runs and is incompatible with the older 1.4.2 JRE.  The full
  message is:
  The java class could not be loaded
  
  java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/tivoli/itsrm/install
  /SilentDatabaseInstall (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
  This scenario is unique in that it applies to a remote TPC
  database on AIX or Linux where there is also a common agent
  installed.  If no common agent exists the installer will use
  its bundled java.
  Problem is associated to TPC Versions 4.1.x and v4.2.x
  

Local fix

• Workaround requires modification of the data subcomponent setup
   script.  Not recommended without assistance from support.

Problem conclusion

• The installer has been corrected to use the correct JRE.  The
  fix for this APAR is targeted for the following maintenance
