Error description
DETAIL OF PROBLEM: The TPC Data server process will not start correctly and will not open port 9549 if any legacy TPC data and/or fabric agents register with the TPC server using a null GUID value. The first symptom of this problem is not being able to log into the TPC GUI after restarting the OS or manually re-starting the TPC Data server process. A pop-up window displaying "Status 12" and GUI00023M will appear. Connectivity testing will reveal that port 9549 is not listening, though the TPC Data server process does appear to start and stay running. To diagnose this problem, examine the server_0000x.log files located in <tpc_install_dir>\data\log. The following messages will appear in that log file: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at com.tivoli.itsrm.server.AgentManager.init(AgentManager.java:258) at com.tivoli.itsrm.server.Server.main(Server.java:727) RECREATE STEPS: N/A ________________________________________________________________ DB2 Version used for Server: N/A The defect is against component: 5608TC300 TPC Data server Server/Manager build/release (TPC): 4.2.1 GA Agent build/release (TPC): Any supported legacy CAS-based TPC Data or Fabric agent Server/Manager (OS): All supported server Operating Systems Agent (OS): N/A ________________________________________________________________ Problem as described by customer: Unable to log into TPC Initial customer impact (low/med/high): high

Problem conclusion
TPC Data Server will reject agents registration requests having a null GUID. Those agents that have already registered with a null GUID will not be displayed in Data Agent/SRA list panel and in job definitions until they re-register with a valid GUID.
