Error description
New functionality was added to the 6.2.2 Windows clients to provide Automated System Restore (ASR) on Windows 2008, 2008 R2, 7, and Vista. This functionality had previously only been available on Windows 2003, 2003 R2, and XP in the 6.2.0 and 6.2.1 clients. When the Windows client books and READMEs discussed the new 6.2.2 functionality, they failed to document the restriction ASR was added only for BIOS machines with those operating systems. 64-bit machines with the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) with those operating systems have the same functionality as the 6.2.0 and 6.2.1 clients, which does not include ASR.

Problem conclusion
The following information is updated in the specified user's guides. Installing > Installing the Tivoli Storage Manager clients (UNIX, Linux, and Windows) > Client environment requirements > Windows client environment requirements > Backup-archive client features that are available on Windows platforms Add the following note: ASR from WinPE environment is not supported on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Protecting workstations and file servers > Back up and restore data with backup-archive clients > Backing up your data > Backing up in preparation for Automated System Recovery (Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008) Add the following note: Note that ASR data is not backed up, and hence cannot be restored, on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Protecting workstations and file servers > Back up and restore data with backup-archive clients > Restoring your data > Recovering a computer when the operating system is not working (Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008) Add the following note: Note that the backup-archive client does not back up, and hence cannot restore, ASR data on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Reference > Backup-archive client options and commands > Using commands > Backup Systemstate Modify the ASR statement for Windows Vista/7/2008 Server as follows: On Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 clients running BIOS, backup systemstate also backs up ASR data. ASR data is not backed up on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Reference > Backup-archive client options and commands > Using commands > Restore Systemstate Modify the ASR statement for Windows Vista/7/2008 Server as follows: On Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 clients running BIOS, restore systemstate also restores ASR files when running in WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment). The backup-archive client does not back up, and hence cannot restore, ASR data on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Reference > Backup-archive client options and commands > Processing options > Asrmode Modify the ASR statement for Windows Vista/7/2008 Server as follows: Note that ASR data is not backed up, and hence cannot be restored, on 64-bit architectures with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI).
