Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
WebSphere MQ V7.0.1.3 users using the PCF command
MQCMD_INQUIRE_CHANNEL_NAMES to inquire channel name and channel
    type.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The PCF command MQCMD_INQUIRE_CHANNEL_NAMES was originally
designed to return just a list of channel names at WebSphere MQ
5.3 and earlier releases. However, this was broken at
WebSphere MQ 6 when channels were rewritten as queue manager
objects. At WebSphere MQ V6 and WebSphere MQ V7 (prior to
7.0.1.3), the inquire channel names command returns the channel
type along with the channel name. This behavior was changed in
WebSphere MQ V7.0.1.3 and because of that the PCF command
inquire channel names returns only the list of channel names.
However, in Z/OS this command returns the channel types and QSG
    dispositions.

Problem conclusion

  • To be consistent with the Z/OS implementation, the distributed
code for WMQ is modified so that the channel types are also
returned along with the channel names as the output for the PCF
command MQCMD_INQUIRE_CHANNEL_NAMES. The selector that will be
returned in the response data is MQIACH_CHANNEL_TYPES and this
will be an integer list (MQCFIL).
