IC69123: FTE AGENT IS UNABLE TO START AFTER APPLYING IFIXES FOR APARS IC67508 AND IC68561.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition agent will not start in
  the background using the fteStartAgent.cmd command.  Instead a
  stderr.txt file gets written with the following:
  
   'C:\Program" "Files" "' is not recognized as an internal or
   external command, operable program or batch file.
  
  No entries are recorded in the agent's output0.log file.  A
  trace of the fteStartAgent.cmd command shows the following:
  
   13:25:01.152.01  0001     static  c.i.wmqfte.api.StartAgent
   -  d  main data [[cmd.exe, /C, C:\Program" "Files"
   "(x86)\IBM\WMQFTE\jre\bin\java -Xmx1024M -Xdump:none
   -Xdump:heap:events=vmstop,opts=PHD+CLASSIC
  

Local fix

• Run the WMQFTE agent in the foreground using the -F flag.  For
  example:  fteStartAgent.cmd -F agent_name
  
  Where 'agent_name' is the name of your agent.
  

Problem summary

• If a WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition agent is installed in a
  directory that contains a character that would normally need to
  be enclosed in "" on that particular platform it cannot be
  started in the background on v7.0.2.1.
  An example of this would be an agent installed in the following
  directory on Windows:
  C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WMQFTE
  
  USERS AFFECTED:
  All who install WMQFTE into a directory that contains characters
  that would require to be enclosed in "" on a particular
  operating system.
  
  PLATFORMS AFFECTED:
  All supported
  

Problem conclusion

• CONCLUSION:
  The code that generates the string to start the agent in the
  background has been modified to enclose the whole agent path in
  "" rather than just space characters.
  

Temporary fix

• An iFix is available for WMQFTE 7.0.2.1
