Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Tivoli Storage Manager server users of * * the DEFINE VOLUME command. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: See ERROR DESCRIPTION. * * Local Fix: * * For the sequential file storage pool, * * can create a large volume outside of * * Tivoli Storage Manager by using a * * utillity such as dd and then using * * the Define Volume command. * * As an example, the following command * * creates a 5 megabyte file. * * "dd if=/dev/zero of=/testdir/test.dd * * bs=5M count=1" * * From a Tivoli Storage Manager * * administrative session, the * * following command would add the * * above file as a sequential volume * * "define volume seqpool * * /testdir/test.dd" * * where seqpool is a sequential file * * storagepool and /testdir/test.dd * * is the name of the file that was * * created outside of Tivolli Storage * * Manager. * * For the random access(DISK) storage * * pool, can use SMIT to create raw * * logical volume, and then using the * * Define Volume command. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing level when available. This * * problem is currently projected to be fixed * * in levels 6.1.4 and 6.2.2. Note that this * * is subject to change at the discretion of * * IBM. * **************************************************************** *
