Error description

  • ANR9999D_3962351595 AsUpdateEmptyVol(asvol.c:3389) Thread<1742>:
Attempt to overwrite existing encryption key (lengths =
72,48,72), for volume NNN is received upon reuse of an empty
private volume in a storage pool whose device class is
configured for drive encryption. Code added with APAR IC64914 to
help avoid the overwrite of encryption information for empty
scratch volumes (which should never exist) introduced this error
message. However, since empty private volumes need to obtain new
encryption keysthis needs to be modified to allow predefined
    volumes to be reused.

Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 6.1.3.1 5.5.4.1
    Initial Impact: Medium
Additional Keywords: encrypt reusing not scratch vol

Local fix

  • Delete the private volume and redefine it before attempting to
    reuse it
