Error description
On x64 systems, the customer must use the x64 b/a client. If a 32-bit Lotus instance is used, then the x86_64 DP Domino package should be used. This b/a client does not communicate with the 32-bit pidom.dll plugin, nor does the 64-bit pidom.dll plugin communicate with the Lotus Domino instance. Due to this restriction, x86_64 DP Domino installations cannot use the web client. Initial Impact: Low . TSM Versions Affected: All DP Domino x86_64 installations on Windows . Additional Keywords: domdsmc tdpdom64 domdsm pidom pidomclient.lic

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All 32-bit Data Protection for Domino users in 32-bit Domino server environments that run on 64-bit operating system instances. . PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: It is necessary for all applications that interact with each other to be of the same bitness. i.e. 32-bit applications to work with other 32-bit applications. Therefore, when using the 32-bit Lotus Domino Server, it is required to use a 32-bit Data Protection for Lotus Domino application package. . DP for Domino on Windows has two different 32-bit application packages depending on the bitness of your operating system. The x32 package is used when running on a 32-bit OS instance. The x86_64 package is used when running on a 64-bit OS instance. . Additionally, DP for Domino on Windows has a 3rd application package that provides a 64-bit DP for Domino application to run on 64-bit OS instances. This is the x64 package. . DP for Domino has created these 3 installation packages to satisfy the operating environments and manner in which the Lotus Domino Server application is delivered. . In order to use the Web Client GUI with DP for Domino, the TSM Backup-Archive Client package is also required. In contrast to DP for Domino, the TSM BA Client for Windows has only 2 packages. A 32-bit application package for use on 32-bit operating systems and a 64-bit application packages for use on 64-bit operating systems. . Therefore, in the scenario that a customer has a 32-bit Domino Server and 32-bit DP for Domino running on a 64-bit OS, the x86_64 DP for Domino package is required because it enables the 32-bit DP for Domino application to run on a 64-bit operating system while communicating with the 32-bit Domino Server instance. However, in order to run the TSM BA Client on 64-bit Windows, the x64 (64-bit) TSM BA Client package is required. . Since it is not possible for the 64-bit TSM BA Client to communicate with the 32-bit DP for Domino application, it is a permanent restriction that the Web Client GUI can not be used in this operating environment.
Problem conclusion
This is a permanent restriction of the product. The Installation and User's Guide will be udpated to document this restriction. Additionally, this restriction will be added to the following technote: . Data Protection for Lotus Domino Version 5.5.1 - 5.5.2 Known Problems and Limitations . http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?&uid=swg21297054 . Instead of using the Web Client Gui for this operating environment, ue the DP for Domino command line to perform application tasks.
