IC65095: SERVER ON WINDOWS MAY FAIL TO START AFTER UPGRADE TO 5.5.4.0

Error description

  • The Tivoli Storage Manager Server may fail to start after
    upgrading to 5.5.4.0.  The following messages may be seen.
    
    ANR0109E Attempt number 1 Unable to load cryptography module
    from 'C:\Program Files\IBM\GSK7_64'.
    ANR0109E Attempt number 2 Unable to load cryptography module
    from 'C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\Server\.'.
    ANR9999D_1073581729 (cryptog.c:279) Thread<0>: ICC load failed.
    
    Also the following folder and/or it's sub folders may be
    missing.
    
    C:\Program Files\IBM\GSK7_64\ICC
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 5.5.4.0 Windows
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable): N/A
    
    Initial Impact: High

Local fix

  • Replacement of the ICC folder should allow the server to start.
    This can be found in the tsm_images folder from the extracted
    installation package.  By default these files are placed in
    C:\TSM_Images.
    
    For x32 this folder should be used:
    C:\TSM_Images\5.5.4.0-TIV-TSMSRV-Windows\TSM32\server\program
    files\ibm\gsk7\icc
    
    For x64 this folder should be used:
    C:\TSM_Images\5.5.4.0-TIV-TSMSRV-Windows\TSMX64\server\Program
    Files 64\IBM\GSK7_64\icc
    
    For example on a Windows x64 system the ICC folder can be found
    in the following path.
    
    C:\TSM_Images\5.5.4.0-TIV-TSMSRV-Windows\TSMX64\server\Program
    Files 64\IBM\GSK7_64\icc
    
    If you copy that folder to C:\Program Files\IBM\GSK7_64 and
    replace the ICC folder (if it exists) and all sub folders, the
    server should start.
    
    It can also be taken from an operational server.  Note that the
    contents of this folder is architecture specific.  Please ensure
    that you replace the folder with one of the same architecture.
