APAR status

Error description

  • Some SQL queries used by Tivoli Storage Manager Monitoring and
    Reporting Agent can cause performance issues.  The long queries
    can cause ITM  to timeout after 50 seconds.  When this happens,
    the ITM stops waiting to return the data and the Data Warehouse
    database will not be updated, however, the Monitoring and
    Reporting agent is not aware of the timeout and will continue
    the queries.  Some of the workspaces in Tivoli Enterprise Portal
    for the reporting and Monitoring agent will be empty.  Also some
    of the tables in the WAREHOUS database will be
    empty or missing.
    
    Some specific symptoms include the following :
    
    The Tivoli Enterprise Portal "Availability" workspace reports a
    "GENERAL ERROR" error code for the following workspaces :

    Client_Missed_Files  CUSTOM        INACTIVE        GENERAL ERROR

    AGENTLOG             CUSTOM        INACTIVE        GENERAL ERROR
    
    The schedule workspace reports no data (empty). This is more
    likely to happen when a lot of data is returned from the TSM
    server on select queries. For example, a select command on the
    EVENTS table returned more than 30000 rows.
    
    
    Version and Platforms affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager Monitoring and Reporting Agent 6.1 on all
    platforms.
