Error description
When Turkish locals (regional settings) are used on a system hosting the Integrated Solutions Console with the Tivoli Storage Manager Administration Center, some actions in the Administration Center can cause a PortletException error to appear. Amongst these actions are: Storage Devices -> View Device Classes Storage Devices -> View Storage Pools -> Modify Storage Pool Storage Devices -> Create a Library -> Create Library Storage Devices -> Modify Library Server Maintenance -> Create Maintenance Script Server Maintenance -> Modify Maintenance Script The PortletException error is raised as the platform hosting the Integrated Solutions Console cannot be identified: Exception Type: PortletException Message: com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.cntl.core.DsmPortletController:processVi ew Root Cause: com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.util.DsmLogicException: DsmLogicException: ERROR: Server platform unknown at com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.cntl.DsmExceptions.throwLogic(DsmExceptio ns.java:263) at com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.comp.stgdevs.devclass.DevClassesTableMode l.load(DevClassesTableModel.java:134) at com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.comp.stgdevs.devclass.DevClassesTableJspB ean.init(DevClassesTableJspBean.java:113) at com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.cntl.core.DsmPortletController.createJspB ean(DsmPortletController.java:541) at com.tivoli.dsm.admcntr.cntl.core.DsmPortletController.processVie w(DsmPortletController.java:276) [...] These messages can also be found in file SystemErr.log in the Integrated Solutions Console / Administration Center installation log directory. The problem is caused due to a globalization problem with the Turkish dotted "i" that will impact the recognition of all mixed (upper-/lower-case) OS names with an "i" in it (for instance Windows, Linux, ...). This also has an influence on the functionality of the Administration Center Support Utility "supportUtil" as for instance on a Windows system some shell script (*.sh) are tried to be called instead of the batch files (*.bat). Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All Administration Center Versions 5.4, 5.5 and 6.1 Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: zz61 TSM ISC AC admin centre admincenter
Local fix
Change the locales (regional settings) to English and start/stop the ISC to pickup the changes.
