Error description

• The 6.1 Tivoli Storage Manager reporting and monitoring feature
  on AIX requires Asynchronous I/O to function properly.  If
  Asynchronous I/O is not available, an install attempt can fail.

Local fix

• Enable Asynchronous I/O manually using "smit aio" and then run
  the installer (install.bin) again.

  The DB2 9.1 failed to install because  Asynchronous I/O is not
  installed (aio.ext)  This fix will display a message to
  notifiy the user of the missing software, early in the install
  instead of after Db2 is partially installed.
  

Problem conclusion

• his problem is currently projected to be fixed in level 6.1.3.
  Note that this is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
