IC61021: DP EXCHANGE 6.1 BACKUP ERROR ACN5918W MAILBOX HISTORY DID NOT UPDATE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When attempting a TDP Exchange backup using release 6.1, this
  can witness the error:
      ACN5918W The mailbox history did not update successfully on
  the TSM Server.
  The backup will continue after this error.
  This error will normally occur is there are non-ascii characters
  in one of the AD entries for the Exchange information or the
  mailbox is corrupted and needs to be reset by the exchange
  administrator. Note that non-ascii characters, such as would be
  seen for international names, are allowed in the display name,
  but not unicode characters that are from a different code
  page than the one used on the system.
  To obtain the entries that would be gathered for the mailbox
  history, the following dsquery can be run on the Exchange Server
  machine:
  dsquery * domainroot -filter
  "(&(objectClass=user)(msExchHomeServerName=*/cn=*))" -attr
        mailNickname displayName homeMDB legacyExchangeDN
        msExchMailboxGuid
  Note:  The mailbox history is updated for all mailboxes for all
  storage groups, even if the storage group is not requested for
  backup.

  Other symptoms that can occur are:
  When attempting a mailbox restore from the Data Protection for
  Exchange GUI "Utilities-->Mailbox Restore" menu, the following
  message is displayed:
    ACN0004E An unknown error has been detected.
  When attempting a mailbox restore" from the Data Protection for
  Exchange CLI using the "TDPEXCC RESTOREMailbox" command, the
  following message is displayed:
   ACN0151E Errors occurred while processing the request.
  .
  Another unwanted behaviour of this defect has been described
  when performing Single Mailbox Restore (SMR) to a specified
  destination mailbox:

  If an MS-Exchange user name was changed after backup, the
  szDisplayName of his backup data is different from the current
  mailbox szDisplayName, although szAlias is still identical.
  TDP MS-Exchange cannot find the correct destination mailbox in
  MS-Exchange under these conditions, because of an insufficient
  search algorithm. Eventually the restore defaults to the mailbox
  of the requesting user.

Local fix

• To work around this error, place the following parameter into
  the TDP Exchange configuration file (tdpexc.cfg by default).
     STOREMAILBOXInfo NO
  This will stop the mailbox history from being queried or saved.
  NOTE:  The mailbox history information is used for the
  Individual Mailbox Restore and is only needed if the mailbox has
  moved from it's original location (since it was backed up).
  If the mailbox has moved and the mailbox history information
  has not been gathered due to this work around, it will be
  necessary to manually provide the original mailbox information
  at the time of the Individual Mailbox Restore.
