Error description

  • The TSM server can crash while processing a NAS NDMP backup or
    restore operation in filer-to-server configurations.  This
    crash will happen if the process is ending prematurely
    because of an error, or if the operation was cancelled by an
    administrator.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    In addition to a TSM server crash and core, the following
    messages may be found in the dsmserv.err log file:
    .
      ANR9999D Attempt to destroy non-idle condition variable;
      thread XXXX (tid X).
    .
      or
    .
      ANR9999D Condition variable destruction failure, rc=16
      (Device busy), sessP->aux_2IdleCond; thread XX (tid XXXXX).
    .

Local fix

  • Do not cancel an active NDMP process.
    Resolve the errors causing NDMP processing to end prematurely.
