Error description

  • Problem Description:

CDP FPA.txt file on target system is not updated correctly for
continuous protection, when changing the protection level from
"None" to "Local and Remote Storage" on source system and then
publishing the settings using Central Administration.

This happens when the user had continuous set to None
and then and Admin tried to push a configuration with a setting
other then None to the users system.

    CDP Versions Affected: 31A

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable)

         Steps taken to recreate:

     1. change "Continuous protection level" in CDP "General" page
from "Local storage only" to "None" and push OK button on
        Admin PC.

     2. local fpa.txt is changed

     3. Check the "Publish this computer's settings as the
configuration template for other computers to use" check box
in Central Management page. Then fpcommands.xml is also
        changed

     4. fpcommands.xml is distributed to target PC with keeping
change. And fpa.txt is also changed on the target PC.

     5. Next, change "Continuous protection level" on Admin PC from
"None" to "Local and remote storage".

     6. fpa.txt is changed on the local system

     7. Check the "Publish this computer's settings as the
configuration template for other computers to use" check box
in Central Management again. Then fpcommands.xml is also
        changed.

     8. The distributed fpcommands.xml on target PC has the change,
        but fpa.txt still has disabled="1".

    Initial Impact: Low

    Additional Keywords:

    Central Administration, push config,
push configuration, fpa.txt, fpacommands.xml, disabled, local
