IC52861: HOD 10.0.1 WILL NOT INSTALL ON A PREVIOUS RELEASE OF HOD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When trying to install HOD 10.0.1 on a machine that already has
  HOD installed, the install fails. In order to continue, the
  other level of HOD must be uninstalled manually by entering the
  hoduninstall.exe command from a command prompt. Once the machine
  is cleaned up, the HOD 10.0.1 can be installed.
  

Local fix

• Uninstall the previous level of HOD before installing 10.0.1.
  

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a level of Host On-Demand was        *
  *                      installed on a Windows XP machine and   *
  *                      the user tried to install HOD 10.0.1    *
  *                      Manufacturing refresh, the install      *
  *                      would fail with an error or it would    *
  *                      not upgrade correctly.                  *
  *                      If it did appear to upgrade, the        *
  *                      service manager would not start.        *
  *                      If the error message appeared, the      *
  *                      previous level would have to be         *
  *                      manually uninstalled by entering the    *
  *                      hoduninstall.exe command from a         *
  *                      command prompt. Then the 10.0.1 would   *
  *                      install.                                *

  The Conditional execution syntax was incorrect in portions of
  the installer.
  

Problem conclusion

• The installer code was modified to separate the conditions of
  installation.
