    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The Permanent I/O error is caused by a conflict between the
    user's screen size settings and the host's screen size settings.
    Although the user set the screen size to 27 X 132, the host
    can send a change command to edit the size to 27 X 80.
    The problem occurs when Host On-Demand uses the buffer size
    which is based on the dimensions of the screen to determine
    the number of columns for the presentation space. When the
    host changes the size of the screen to 27 X 80, the buffer
    size also decreases and, in turn, reduces the number of columns
    available for data to 80. A permanent I/O error results when
    data in fields that would populate these missing columns have
    no where to be written or displayed.

Problem conclusion

  • Host On-Demand code was changed so that the screen size is
    checked for the number of columns when the data is sent and
    before it is displayed.
