Error description

  • SCENARIO:
    1. Start CATIA V5 and open a new drawing.
     2. Simultaneously open an MS excel file having some text in ???
    HINDI??? and ???ARABIC??? language with ???Arial Unicode MS??? f
    ont.
     3. Copy the ???HINDI??? text from excel file.
     4. Go to CATIA drawing and using TEXT icon enter the copied ???
    HINDI??? text .
     5. Change the font style in CATIA to ???Arial Unicode MS???.
     6. Copy Arabic text from excel file and enter into CATIA drawin
    g.
     7. Change the font style in CATIA to ???Arial Unicode MS???.

    RESULTS:
     1. In case of HINDI??? and ???ARABIC??? language the text are n
    ot displayed correctly and not same as compared to the text in t
    he Excel file. Some of the characters are not in order
     2. Arabic text is written from right to left, but when pasted i
    n CATIA , the text in Arabic is being displayed from left to rig
    ht.

    EXPECTED RESULT
     1. In case of HINDI??? and ???ARABIC??? language texts the disp
    lay should be the same as it is in the copied text as in Notepad
     or Word Document.
     2. Text should be displayed from right to left for Arabic input

  • THIS MODIFICATION WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE DOCUMENTATION
    DELIVERED WITH CATIA VERSION V5R21
    NOTE THAT DOCUMENTATION WILL ALSO BE INCLUDED IN CATIA V5R20
    SP5.

    INFRASTRUCTURE: Fonts:  Hindi and Arab fonts don't work in
    CATIA.
    EXPLANATION:
    Hindi scripts and Arabic scripts are not supported currently.
    Please see the chapter "Starting
    a Session in a Language Other than English" in documentation,
    you can find the list of
    languages currently supported by CATIA.

    DEVELOPMENT REQUEST JUSTIFICATION:
    Supporting Hindi and Arabic scripts will involve lot of
    development efforts due to intricacies
    involved in these scripts and can be taken up only as
    separate planned enhancement .
