Error description
SCENARIO: Operation: 1.Open the attached CATAnalysis file. 2.Change workbench to the Generative Structural Analysis W/B. 3.Double click on the Spot Welding Connection Property in the Properties.1. 4.Select the Beam as the Type. 5.Click the Component edition button. 6.Select the Cylindrical beam as the type. 7.Click the Component edition button. 8.Input the 1mm as the Radius. 9.Click the OK button. 10.Select the Point.1 in the SUR_B.CATPart as the Orientation geometry. 11.Click the OK button. 12.Click the OK button. 13.Select the Clamp command. 14.Select the edge of the SUR_B as shown in the attached image. 15.Click the OK button. 16.Select the Force Density command. 17.Select the SUR_A.CATPart as the Support. 18.Input the -1000N as the Z of the Force Vector. 19.Click the OK button. 20.Select the Compute All command. RESULT: An error occurs and the Compute is interrupted ADDITIONAL INFO: - This trouble also occurs when the Spring-Rigid-Spring or the Rigid-Spring-Rigid is selected as Step4 - This trouble does NOT occur when the Non-Compatible is selected as the Mesh Compatibility. . EXPECTED RESULT: The Compute should be performed when the Compatible is setup. .

Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA. Additional Closure Information: INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS: If Compatible mesh is used for spot weld connection, singularity error is shown. RESTRICTION EXPLANATION: - If Beam type of connection is used for weld with compatible mesh, the beam introduces stiffness in rotational direction. - Due to this beam stiffness in rotational direction, local rotational singularity is not detected. - However, the beam is still free to rotate about its axis. This is a global singularity and hence the singularity error is shown and model is not computed. - With non-compatible mesh, additional nodes are generated by orthogonal projection. There nodes have kinematic relations with their surrounding nodes. - Due to kinematic relations, there is no rotational singularity and model is computed. Due to this reason the current behavior can not be changed. .
