• GSD / CATIA ABENDS WHILE CREATING VARIABLE
  OFFSET SURFACE.
  .
  Scenario.
  1)Start CATIA V5R15SP3.
  2)Open the given CATPart.
  Workbench : 'GSD'.
  -Change the CATIA window size to Full screen by
  Maximization icon.
  .
  3)Change the view to the 'Isometric View'.
  - Click 'Isometric View' icon.
  Please do not move the 3D shape by the geometry
  area after the view is changed.
  .
  4)Click 'Variable Offset' icon.
  .
  5)Define the 'Variable Offset' parameter by the
  following process. (Info)
  Define by order  'Orange,Blue,Green,Yellow,Purple'
  as offset surface Define by order
  of '2mm,4mm,6mm,8mm ..' as offset parameter

  - Sel 'Extrude.1' in the tree as the Global Surface.
  - Sel the cell of the 'Sub-part to Offset'.
  Click MB3.
  Sel 'Create Extract' in the context menu.
  'Extract Definition' dialog box is displayed.
  - Sel the orange face as 'Element(s) to extract'.
  - Sel 'No propagation' as Propagation type.
  Click 'OK'.
  - Input the 2 as offset value.(Input by the
  keyboard)

  - Sel the cell of the 'Sub-part to Offset'.
  Click MB3.
  Sel 'Create Extract' in the context menu.
  'Extract Definition' dialog box is displayed.
  - Sel the blue face as 'Element(s) to extract'.
  - Sel 'No propagation' as Propagation type.
  Click 'OK'.
  - Input the 4 as offset value.(Input by the
  keyboard)

  - Sel the cell of the 'Sub-part to Offset'.
  Click MB3.
  Sel 'Create Extract' in the context menu.
  'Extract Definition' dialog box is displayed.
  - Sel the green face as 'Element(s) to extract'.
  - Sel 'No propagation' as Propagation type.
  Click 'OK'.
  ( If CATA is not abend by step5-3,
  continue offset of Yellow face, Purple face. )

  Click OK to Terminate -- Message aapears.
  CATIA  Abends.

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION
  5 RELEASE 17 GA level.
  NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED
  ON V5R16SP03 AND ON V5R15SP06.
  .
  It does not Abend while creating variable offset
  surface and the variable offset surface is created.
  .
