The problem was linked to an already existing associative link
with the selected component. Software has been improved to
display a warning message explaining why the projection cannot
be done
Warning message is the following: Import To Create External
Reference: Cycle Detected.

in a product, you can use Analyze / Dependencies function in
Assembly Design Workbench
