Storwize V7000 to Storwize V7000 Unified Conversion Utility

Download

Abstract

This utility tests that the IBM Storwize V7000 is ready to have file modules added to upgrade it to an IBM Storwize V7000 Unified system.

Download Description

The utility can be installed on any IBM Storwize V7000 system. This utility checks that the system is ready to have file modules added to upgrade it to a Storwize V7000 Unified system so that it can provide network attached storage (NAS) services as well as the block volume services that it already provides. It can also start the initial setup of the file modules and Storwize V7000 Unified System.

The utility can be run as many times as necessary on the same Storwize V7000 system to perform a readiness check-in preparation for the upgrade. It must be run for a final time to start the upgrade. However, you should make sure that there have not been any new releases of the utility since it was previously downloaded.

The installation and usage of this utility is non-disruptive but initial setup of the Storwize V7000 Unified system might require node canisters to be restarted if their software needs to be updated.

There is no interruption to host I/O unless the initial setup of the file modules is started and needs to update the Storwize V7000 Software. Refer to the Software Cross-Reference Table for V7000 Unified to see the version of Storwize V7000 software included in the latest Storwize V7000 Unified Software upgrade package.

The utility will only be installed on the current configuration node.

When preparing for an upgrade to NAS, system administrators should refer to sections "Planning->Planning for adding file modules" and "Installing->Adding file modules to an existing Storwize V7000 system" in the IBM Storwize V7000 Unified Information Center

System administrators should also to review the Flash Alerts relating to the latest available Storwize V7000 Unified Software version which must be upgraded to immediately after the initial configuration of the V7000 Unified System.
