SAN Volume Controller release V6.2.0.5 (code level 36.8.1203200000)

This is a recommended software update for users of all earlier SAN Volume Controller code levels.

It is possible to upgrade directly to V6.2.0.5 from the following code levels:

5.1.0.6 English and Japanese
5.1.0.7 English and Japanese
5.1.0.8 English and Japanese
5.1.0.9 English and Japanese
5.1.0.10 English and Japanese
5.1.0.11 English and Japanese
6.1.0.0 English
6.1.0.1 English
6.1.0.2 English
6.1.0.3 Multi-language

If you are running a version of SVC software lower than V5.1.0.6 then you will need to perform multiple upgrades to install SVC V6.2.0.5 concurrently on your cluster. Please refer to the following Concurrent Compatibility information to identify the appropriate upgrade path:



This code release may contain critical fixes. All customers are strongly advised to read the accompanying release note to determine whether they are currently exposed to any issues that are fixed in this release.

To avoid potential problems, any exceptions to supported interoperability MUST be requested via an approved RPQ (SCORE) agreement. Please contact your IBM representative or authorized IBM Business Partner to request support.

iSCSI Host Ports Incorrectly Reported as Offline

You should ensure that the cluster event log does not contain any unfixed events prior to applying a software upgrade, since these events may prevent a successful upgrade. Use the Troubleshooting Guide or the Maintenance Procedures to fix the events. In addition to checking the cluster event log we also strongly recommend using the SVC upgrade test utility. Contact IBM Support if you require assistance.


Mandatory Pre-Installation Requirement

It is important that you upgrade the SVC Console Code (GUI) before you upgrade the SVC cluster code.


The SAN Volume Controller Management GUI for V6.1.0 and V6.2.0 will run on the cluster, rather than on a Windows machine. The following SAN Volume Controller Console (SVCC) package will uninstall the existing SVCC GUI and create desktop shortcuts to the new management GUI. IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller Console (SVCC) V6.1.0 and V6.2.0
