Recommended settings for EMC VMAX Storage
Preventive Service Planning
This document outlines the recommended settings for EMC VMAX models supported with SAN Volume Controller , Storwize V7000, V5000 and FlashSystems V840 and V9000
Please refer to this table when virtualizing VMAX Controllers with the above IBM Products.. Where other than recommended below the bit settings on VMAX should remain at factory default when virtualized behind SAN Volume Controller , Storwize V7000, V5000 and FlashSystems V840 and V9000

Customers running SAN Volume Controller or Storwize versions earlier than 7.1 the SPC-2 bit should be set to "Disabled".
For customers moving from SAN Volume Controller or Storwize versions earlier than 7.1 to 7.1 and higher the SPC-2 bit should not be changed on a production system and should remain "Disabled".
Note that VMAX3 with 5977 the SPC-2 Bit is set to Enabled and is none configurable. VMAX 3 is supported on SVC and Storwize 7.3 and higher only
For customers running 7.1 and higher and installing a new VMAX the SPC-2 bit can remain at the default setting of "Enabled".
Changing the setting of the SPC-2 bit on a production system is not supported and may cause issues.
