Abstract
Systems using compressed volumes on earlier V7.3.0 or V7.4.0 PTF releases are exposed to a number of high-impact issues that are fixed in later releases.
Content
A number of critical defects exist in earlier PTF releases on the V7.3.0 and V7.4.0 code streams which could result in systems using compressed volumes experiencing loss of access to data.
Although the probability of experiencing any of these defects is low, IBM strongly recommends that systems using compressed volumes on these code streams are upgraded to the V7.3.0.11 or V7.4.0.4 releases or higher as soon as is practical.
Please refer to the V7.3.0 and V7.4.0 release notes for further information on the range of compression fixes that have been introduced in PTF releases:

Additionally, a number of low-probability compression issues exist in the V6.4.x, V7.1.0, V7.2.0, V7.3.0 and V7.4.0 code streams that may in certain circumstances lead to undetected loss of data.
These issues are fixed in the V7.3.0.11 and V7.4.0.4 releases, with fixes for the V6.4.x, V7.1.0 and V7.2.0 code streams to be provided in future PTF releases.
