Abstract
On multi-core or multi-processor storage systems with Alternate Control Path (ACP) functionality in an attached storage expansion unit, interaction between the ACP and other networking subsystems may result in a storage system panic. This problem has been fixed in later releases of Data ONTAP as described in this customer notification.

Description
A storage system panic may result, causing a brief disruption in service to occur within your storage system.
- All multi-core or multiprocessor storage systems with Alternate Control Path (ACP) functionality in an attached storage expansion unit are potentially affected by this defect.
- Single-processor storage controllers (such as the N3300 and N3600) and storage systems configurations that do not contain a storage expansion unit with ACP functionality are not susceptible to this problem.
Workaround
Until a later release of Data ONTAP is installed on the storage system that fixes this problem, follow the instructions below to disable the ACP function:
- At the console of the storage system, issue the following command:
- If dns.update.enable is set to either "on" or "secure", issue the following commands:
- If dns.update.enable is already set to "off", issue the following command:
options dns.update.enable
dns.update.enable off
|
options dns.update.enable off options acp.enabled off options dns.update.enable on or secure (as appropriate) |
options acp.enabled off |
Data ONTAP releases which have fixed this problem
- 7.3.5.1 (GA) or later releases.
- 8.0.1 (GA) or later releases.
