Firmware access
1 FICON Supported Release
2 v5.2.1_NI RESTRICTIONS:
- 1. FICON is not supported.
2. Direct Inter Switch Link (ISL) e-port attachment is only supported on the m-type switches listed:
SAN32B-3 with v5.2.1_NI1 is compatible with the following m-type switches in EOS native mode (interop mode is not supported)
3. M-type BladeCenter blades with this switch and FOS are not supported.
4. Zone configuration must be done from an m-type switch. To incorporate the SAN32B-3 into an M-EOS Native fabric, Safe Zoning must be disabled in the fabric.
5. The SAN32B-3 will work with EFCM 9.1 but there may be some ISL traffic issues unless the switch is set up with the appropriate passwords for EFCM.
- Items 6 and 7 refer to converting a SAN32B-3 switch back and forth between FOS v5.2.1_NI to a normal Brocade FOS v5.x:
6. Fabric OS v5.2.1_NI firmware is supported only on SAN32B-3. Upgrades to v5.2.1_NI from v5.2.1 or downgrade from v5.2.1_NI to v5.2.1 will be disruptive and requires a full reboot.
7. A v5.2.1_ NI configuration file cannot be used on the same switch after the switch has been downgraded to firmware version v5.2.1
When downgrading to Fabric OS v5.2.1, the switch must be reconfigured to operate in Brocade Native mode using interopMode command line interface after successful installation of non- v5.2.1_NI before reboot. Failure to do so will result in residual configuration that will interfere while operating with non- v5.2.1_NI, or when upgrading to NI version of firmware in future.
