If you are using the SurePOS 700 models -741, C41, 781, 722, 742, C42, or 782, then you have the option of ordering Feature 7356 (VGA Adapter Card). The feature is availble on the SurePOS 300 models - 330 or 33H For other machine types, the order vehicle is the RPQ Order. Please order RPQ 8Q1934 PCI VIDEO CARD ATI XL 8MB PCI video adapter, IBM p/n 10J1883. (for some distributors, the P/N of the card shows up as a bulk P/N 10N0519) This RPQ is applicable to all the following machine types and models: 4810- 310, 31C, 31H, 31K, 31T, 32C, 32H, 32K, 32T 4694- 207, 247, 20S, 24S, V07, V47, V0S, V4S 307, 347, 30S, 34S, P07, P47, P0S, P4S 4800- 202, 242, 20S, 24S, 20E, 24E 732, 733, S32, S33, 7V2, 7V3, SV2, SV3 752, 753, S52, S53, 7P2, 7P3, SP2, SP3 Bulk order models for 4810, 4694, 4800: 4611- 481, 094, 048 This RPQ can be ordered as plant or field, but will be packaged as an MES in both instances. The customer can have the adapter installed at integration. If installation from the plant is required, an RPQ will have to be submitted for each customer. This is because a new P/N would have to be released for each configuration of the models supported.
TERMINAL SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS for Microsoft Windows 1) Please direct your Internet Browser to: www.ibm.com/solutions/retail/store/support 2) The body of this page will link you to the support page for SUREPOS 300, 700, or 4694 Series 3) Scroll down to DUAL Video Support Drivers 4) Download the drivers for your OS. You must use our drivers and order these adapters from IBM (as they come with custom firmware). The card P/N 10J1883 or 10N0519, has been modified to include this custom firmware. Ensure that both monitors are installed and plugged in. On the first power-up, the system will probably look to the PCI card as the primary display. Make sure that you select "AGP" for the Primary Video Adapter from the system BIOS . This is on the "Advanced" tab of the BIOS setup (hit <F2> during the boot sequence to get the BIOS utility menu). Keep in mind that some POS terminals will hang if the PCI card is selected to be the primary display adapter. After the imbedded chipset is made primary, then boot to Windows, and edit the display properties. You should see a dialog box that will allow you to select the dual display functionality that you desire and expand the Windows desktop to include the 2nd display. STEP-by-STEP PROCESS Before the second display adapter is installed in the machine:
- Set 'Default Video Adapter' to either AGP or Onboard in Bios. ('Advanced' panel) to be the default video adapter.
- Copy the 'Dual Monitor Support' drivers downloaded from the 4694, SurePOS 300 or SurePOS 700 page, to the local hard disk.
- Run the downloaded exe to extract the drivers to the folder of choice.
- Shutdown the machine.
- Disconnect the ethernet cable. (This step is only required on the SurePOS 700 series of POS terminals.)
- Install the second display adapter in the machine. (Ensuring it is the right one..).
- Run the 'dual monitor support' driver setup. During the setup several MS Digital Signature pop-up windows will appear. Confirm your desire to continue the setup even though the drivers are not digitally signed. The driver for both the onboard and second display will be updated. .
- Configure the display(s) for the appropriate resolution.
- To extend your desktop to the secondary monitor, activate desktop expansion check-box from the display properties of the secondary video adapter.
- Your desktop should now extend to the second monitor!
PRIOR EDITIONS THAT WERE SUPPORTED IN EUROPE ON THE 4694-246 model POS TERMINAL (distributed in 2002 and earlier) We were successful in getting this card to work in a 4694-246. The ATI cards seem to be better supported by Microsoft dual display configurations. Basic card requirements
- PCI Bus
- one standard VGA port only
- low video performance, 2D only
- min video memory, 8M sufficient
- compatible with the Rage 128 Pro for dual display operation
IBM Retail Store Solutions European (2nd head) solution: Please direct your contact/purchase orders via ATI Europe's (UK) Suzannah Lourenzo (slourenz@ati.com). LP: 102-72307-11/10 is the latest revision with latest BIOS and driver, rev 10 and rev 11 are alternatives to each other with diff. regulators.
