Troubleshooting

Problem

This document explains how to activate and deactivate flight recorder for IBM Cloud Storage Solutions for i

Symptom

In order to debug issue using IBM Cloud Storage Solutions for i can be possible activate flight recorder.

To activate the "flight recorder" create this data area in the program library (QICC) should be created:

CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QICC/QICCTRCLVL) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(2) VALUE('55') TEXT('Trace Level')

The trace files will be in the /QIBM/ProdData/QICC directory.  There will be one file for each transfer, file names are in the form QICC-YYY-MM-DD-HH-MM-SS-jobnum-user-jobname.log.  Use WRKSTSICC STATUS(*ALL) to find the job information for the transfer you are interested in.  For interactive transfers, the date on the flight recorder is from the day your interactive job started.  Flight recorders for all transfers done in the interactive job will be in one file.  If your problem is easy to reproduce, it is preferred to use batch transfers when possible so there are separate flight recorders for each transfer.
To deactivate the "flight recorder", rename or delete the data area.

Note: When sending the flight recorders to IBM, also include the joblog from the transfer, preferably in .txt format.
