IBM Navigator for i No Longer Redirecting to port 2005
After the release of the December 2016 HTTP Group PTF the 2001 port is no longer redirecting to port 2005.
After the release of the December 2016 HTTP Group PTF the 2001 port is no longer redirecting to port 2005 by default. Instead 2001 will now only redirect to the non-secure 2004 port. SSL connections to port 2010 will now only redirect to secure port 2005.
This change was made due to many companies restricting their users from being able to accept certificates that are not signed by a well-known Certificate Authority. Since IBM Navigator for i was previously using a locally generated certificate, most browsers would warn users that the certificate is not trusted and prompt them to add an exception. This caused audit issues as well as access issues for those who were restricted from adding SSL exceptions in the browser.
If you would like to use the secure 2005 port for IBM Navigator for i two things will now need to be configured:
- The ADMIN HTTP Apache server will need to be configured for SSL and listening on port 2010:
- The ADMIN2 server job will need to be configured for SSL:
Once these tasks are complete IBM Navigator for i can be access securely by going to the 2010 port and allowing it to redirect.
