5770AF1 product is not included in V7R3 OS install media B_GROUPn_04

Troubleshooting

Problem

5770AF1 product is not included in V7R3 OS install media B_GROUPn_04

Symptom

5770AF1 product is missing from standard V7R3 install media set.

Cause

5770AF1 for release V7R3 is missing from installation media. Originally, the intent was to include the 7.3 version of 5770AF1 on that media, but later it was decided that support for AFP Utilities would cease. The IBM i 7.3 Memo to Users states that at IBM® Advanced Function Printing Utilities (5770AF1) is no longer supported.

V7R2 version of 5770AF1 can be installed and can potentially work fine but it is NOT supported at V7R3 OS.

Resolving The Problem

Product 5770AF1 at V7R2 can be installed on a system at V7R3 OS but it may or might not run correctly. If it runs fine, do look for other solutions to replace it.

As indicated above, V7R2 version of 5770AF1 is not supported to run at V7R3 OS.

Refer to http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1022140 for a more accurate assessment.
