DESCRIPTION: IBM Access for Windows is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking. A local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the application to crash.

Affected Products and Versions

Releases V5R4, 6.1 and 7.1 of IBM i Access for Windows are affected.

Remediation/Fixes

The issue can be fixed by applying a fix to IBM i Access for Windows.

The IBM i Access for Windows, 5770-XE1, product will be fixed via the 7.1 service release which can be used to access all supported releases of the IBM i server.

The interim fix, prior to the service release, can be obtained via this link:

Instructions to apply the fix are available in the readme.txt packed with the DLL.

Important note: IBM recommends that all users running unsupported versions of affected products upgrade to supported and fixed version of affected products.
