Numerous Occurrences of Message CPI93B9 in QSYSOPR Message Queue for QNPSERVS

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document provides information about numerous occurrences of message CPI93B9 in QSYSOPR.

Resolving The Problem

Occasionally, the QSYSOPR message queue with contain numerous occurrences of message CPI93B9, Software problem data for QNPSERVS has been logged. Refer to help text for additional information".

The procedure that is getting the software error logged is dealing with the QUSRSPLA API, which is implicitly being used by NPS. After two attempts to open the spooled file, the FFDC error is percolated to the QNPSERVS job to report. The customer will have to narrow down which spooled file is causing the problem since the specific spooled file information is not available from the software error log.

This spooled file is corrupted and must be fixed or removed before the problem logs will cease. The area most likely affected within the spooled file is the User Defined Options; therefore, running the CHGSPLFA USRDFNOPT(*NONE) command on the spooled file should rectify the problem. Keep in mind that the printer file associated with the corrupted spooled file might be responsible for the problem; therefore, once located, the printer file value for USRDEFNOPT should also be validated or the printer file should be deleted and re-created all together.

The resolution is to look through the FFDC information to determine which spooled files are failing, and there which printer files are corrupted. Once found, the issue can be resolved by setting the User-defined options (USRDFNOPT) parameter to *NONE in both the printer file and the spooled file attributes.
