CPI1468 Messages - When and Where Sent

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document addresses CPI1468 messages for job tables nearing capacity.

Resolving The Problem

The text description of the message is:

Message . . . . :   System job tables nearing capacity.
Cause . . . . . :   The system job tables are &1 percent full. This is a potentially serious system condition.
Recovery  . . . :   Use the following actions to make more job table entries available:
        •     -- Delete unneeded spooled files.
-- End unneeded jobs on job queues.
-- Change the QMAXJOB system value to increase the maximum number of jobs allowed.
Technical description . . . . . . . . :   If the job tables are permitted to fill completely then jobs cannot be successfully submitted or the subsequent IPL may not complete. This may result in the loss of all spooled files and jobs on job queues. The Display Job Tables (DSPJOBTBL) command can be used to show information about the job tables. The maximum number of jobs(QMAXJOB system value) is &2.

When the number of jobs in the system is more than 90% of the configured maximum number of jobs allowed, the Work with System Status screen will reverse image the Jobs in system field, and the following message is shown on the message line:

- CPI1468 System job tables nearing capacity

The CPI1468 is sent to QSYSOPR each time the job table is being extended and over 90% of permanent job structures are already in use. At 90% the message will also be sent as a critical message.

The CPI1468 message is sent as a diagnostic on WRKSYSSTS and CHGSYSVAL (for QMAXJOB) if the number of entries is over 90% of the maximum.
