Resolving the problem

If you need to follow what the LDAP server is running, you must start an LDAP server trace. This document provides instructions for tracing the LDAP Server for (V6R1 and V7R1).

*With 6.1 PTF SI63484 and 7.1 PTF SI63482 the CHGUSRTRC process is no longer needed

Tracing LDAP Server (V6R1 and V7R1)

Follow the steps below to run the LDAP Server trace:

1. Issue the TRCTCPAPP APP(*DIRSRV) SET(*ON) command.
2. On occasion, you may want to enlarge the trace size to collect more because the trace will get wrapped when the size limit is reached. You may use the following command to change the trace size for V6R1 and V7R1:

CHGUSRTRC JOB(******/QDIRSRV/QUSRDIR) CLEAR(*YES) MAXSTG(16000)

where ****** is your actual DIRSRV job number. You may use WRKJOB QUSRDIR (for V6R1 and V7R1) to look for it. This will clear the old trace and extend the maximum size of the trace from 300K to 16000K.
3. Re-create the failure.
4. Issue the DMPUSRTRC JOB(******/QDIRSRV/QUSRDIR) command for V6R1 and V7R1.

where ****** is your actual DIRSRV job number.

This will dump the trace to QTEMP/QAP0ZDMP. You will see a message on your screen. Press F1 on that message and obtain the member name. The file name will be FILE(QTEMP/QAP0ZDMP).
5. Get the server joblog by issuing the following command:

DSPJOBLOG JOB(XXXXXX/QDIRSRV/INSTANCE) OUTPUT(*PRINT)

where XXXXXX is the job number and INSTANCE will be the job name of the server instance.
6. Once you have the member name from Step 5, issue the following command to view the file:

WRKMBRPDM FILE(QTEMP/QAP0ZDMP) MBR(**********) where the ********** is the name of the member.
7. Issue the CRTSAVF FILE(YOURLIB/YOURSAVF) command.
8. Issue the SAVOBJ OBJ(QAP0ZDMP) LIB(QTEMP) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(YOURLIB/YOURSAVF) command.
9. Issue the TRCTCPAPP APP(*DIRSRV) SET(*END) command. This will end the trace without creating a spooled file because we already have a trace from Step 4.
10. Upload the savefile YOURLIB/YOURSAV F to support at http://www.ecurep.ibm.com/app/upload
