Troubleshooting
Problem
The use of Hot Spare requires V5R4M5 and specific disk controllers. This document specifies the supported controllers.
Resolving The Problem
RAID Hot Spare is supported on 800, 810, 825, 870 and 890 and all Power Systems. Hot Spare requires V5R4M5 or later.
The following disk controllers support Hot Spare:
o | 1.5 GB controllers: #5739/5778/5799/5800/5781/5782 (CCIN 571F) and #5738/4777/5582/5583 (CCIN 571E) |
o | 757MB Controllers #2757/5581/5591 and #2780/5580/5590 |
o | 90 MB controllers #5737/5776 (CCIN 571B) |
o | 40 MB controllers #5703/2782 |
o | Embedded disk controllers of the models 515, 520, 525, 550, and 570 having a 16-40 MB write cache card: #5709/5726/9509/5727/5728/9510 |
o | All SAS adapters that have write cache are capable of running hot spare. |
o | There is no specific slot requirement for serial-attached SCSI (SAS) disk units. Any slot can contain the load source.
