The following steps can be used to migrate or save/restore the Management Central Endpoints, System groups, Definitions, and Monitors.
Note: It is recommended that QYPSJSVR (MC Server Job) be actively running when using the import feature.
1.Export endpoints, system groups, definitions and monitors

a. Type CHGJOB CCSID(37) and press Enter.
b. Type QSH and press Enter.
c. Type /QIBM/ProdData/OS400/MGTC/McExport.qsh -a -f McIEmgtc.xml and press Enter.

Note: Data is exported from the ProdData directory to the UserData directory. Export is complete when you see the following message:
Management Central Import/Export complete: /qibm/userdata/os400/mgtc/McIEmgtc.xml

d. Press F3 to exit QSH to a command line.
2.Transfer /QIBM/UserData/OS400/MGTC/McIEmgtc.xml to target system:
Choose one of the three options for transferring the McIEmgtc.xml file from your source server to your target server.

Option 1: FTP directly from one IBM i server to another IBM i server:
    a. FTP target_system
    b. Enter Login ID
    c. Enter password
    d. NAMEFMT 1
    e. LCD /QIBM/UserData/OS400/MGTC
    f. CD /QIBM/UserData/OS400/MGTC
    g. bin
    h. put McIEmgtc.xml

Option 2: Moving file using Navigator:
    a. Select the source server under My Connections
    b. Expand File Systems -> Integrated File System -> Root -> QIBM -> UserData -> OS400 and then click on MGTC (McIEmgtc.xml should now appear in the right pane)
    c. From the left pane, select the target server under My Connections
    d. Expand File Systems -> Integrated File System -> Root -> QIBM -> UserData -> OS400
    e. Drag the McIEmgtc.xml file from the right pane in the source server directory into the MGTC directory on the left pane which is the target server directory

Option 3: Saving and then Restoring:
The following example shows how to save and restore using a save file, but you can replace the device with a tape or another storage device which the device parameter value would then be for example DEV('/QSYS.LIB/TAP01.DEVD').
    Saving McIEmgtc.xml
    a. CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/MCIEMGTC)
    b. SAV DEV('/QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/MCIEMGTC.FILE') OBJ(('/QIBM/UserData/OS400/MGTC/McIEmgtc.xml'))

Note: If you plan to FTP the save file to the target system, you must first create an empty save file on the target system to keep the savf attribute with the command:
    CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/MCIEMGTC)

    Restoring McIEmgtc.xml
    c. RST DEV('/QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/MCIEMGTC.FILE') OBJ(('/QIBM/UserData/OS400/MGTC/McIEmgtc.xml'))
3.Import endpoints, system groups, definitions and monitors:

a. Type CHGJOB CCSID(37) and press Enter.
b. Type QSH and press Enter.
c. Type /QIBM/ProdData/OS400/MGTC/McImport.qsh -a -f McIEmgtc.xml and press Enter.
d. Press F3 to exit QSH to a command line.

Usage Notes

McExport Extended Help text:
"Usage: McExport.qsh [-a -e -g -d -m ] [-p path] [-f filename ]
-f filename (defaults to McIE####.xml for export, must be set for import)
           -p path (defaults to /qibm/userdata/os400/mgtc)
           -a all(e,g,d,m)
           -e endpoints
           -g system groups
           -d definitions
           -m monitors
           -h extended help

The -a option exports all monitors, definitions, endpoint systems and system groups to the default path and XML file.  A new filename will be generated on each export. If a filename is specified, a new file will be created if one is not found in the path.  For repeated exports to the same file, the exported data will be inserted into the XML with no checks for duplicated objects.

If a path is not specified the file will be created in the default path. When -e, -g, -d or -m are specified only those features of Management Central will be exported."

McImport Extended Help text:
"Usage: McImport.qsh [-a -e -g -d -m -s -u] [-p path] [-f filename ]
-f filename (defaults to McIE####.xml for export, must be set for import)
           -p path (defaults to /qibm/userdata/os400/mgtc)
           -a all (e,g,d,m)
           -e endpoints
           -g system groups
           -d definitions
           -m monitors
           -s start monitors on import
-u updates matching monitors to the imported monitor
           -h extended help

Imports all monitors, definitions, endpoint systems and system groups from the default path and user specified filename when [-a -f] options are chosen.  If a path is not specified the file will be looked for in the default path. When -n, -g, -d or -m are specified only those features of Management Central will be imported or exported.

Allows monitors to be started on import and allows the user the option of replacing an existing monitor with the imported monitor.  If you wish to change the systems assigned to a monitor, that can be accomplished by editing the 'Group' element in the XML."
