Controlling the TCP/IP Trailer Page Using the Print Separator Page (SEPPAGE) Parameter

Troubleshooting

Problem

There are cases where a Remote Output Queue (RMTOUTQ) can be configured with the Print separator page (SEPPAGE) parameter set to *NO and the TCP/IP trailer page (or banner page) continues to print. In other cases, the RMTOUTQ is set to *YES and the TCP/IP trailer page does not print.

Resolving The Problem

There are cases where a Remote Output Queue (RMTOUTQ) can be configured with the Print separator page (SEPPAGE) parameter set to *NO and the TCP/IP trailer page (or banner page) continues to print, and other cases where a RMTOUTQ is set to *YES and the TCP/IP trailer page does not print.

The Print separator page (SEPPAGE) parameter in the output queue description controls whether the remote writer will request a banner page or TCP/IP trailer page to be printed. However, some print servers or LAN adapters can be configured to enable or disable the printing of the TCP/IP trailer page regardless of the setting in the SEPPAGE. If this has been done, the TCP/IP trailer page could be printed when the SEPPAGE parameter is set to *NO or the TCP/IP trailer page could be suppressed when the SEPPAGE parameter is set to *YES.

Note: The Print separator page (SEPPAGE) parameter is set when the Remote Output Queue (RMTOUTQ) is first created using the Create Output Queue (CRTOUTQ) command or can be changed using the Change Output Queue (CHGOUTQ) command. The writer must first be ended before the CHGOUTQ command can be used to change the SEPPAGE parameter.
