Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels. This PTF may be a prerequisite

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

The Samba project has added bug and security fixes into the
Samba 3.6 source that need to be included in the IBM i PASE
package.
CORRECTION FOR APAR SE64654 :
-----------------------------
The IBM i PASE package has been refreshed with the Samba 3.6.25
source modifications with April 2016 patch levels including
fixes for CVE-2016-2118 and others.

None.
Special Instructions
This PTF places the Samba 3.6 package and installer archive file into
the /QIBM/ProdData/OS directory. The package can be extracted to the
current directory for installation by calling "jar xvf
/QIBM/ProdData/OS/Samba.zip" from a PASE command prompt. The extracted
README.txt file contains additional installation instructions.
If a prior version of Samba has already been installed, the update
option on the install script can be used to install the new version
over the old one:
$ ./samba_setup.sh update
After the update is installed, the Samba server must be restarted to
begin running the updated packages.
