APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-------------------------------------------------
It is important to keep all systems in a BRMS network at the
same level of BRMS PTFs.
Fixes included in this PTF may reference enhancements. More
information on these enhancements can be found on the BRMS web
page:
www.ibm.com/developerworks/ibmi/brms
Additionally also review the media web page:
www.ibm.com/developerworks/ibmi/media

Fixes in this PTF:
1. In V5R4 and above, if a restore, from media that was created
during a parallel-parallel format save, fails with MSGBRM4123
and the Allow alternate input media field is set to *YES in the
system policy, the restore does not attempt to use media from
alternate save items.
2. In V5R4 and above, when option 2=Edit entries is specified
for a control group in a list generated by the Work with Control
Groups (WRKCTLGBRM) command and *NO is specified for the 'Retain
Object Detail' field of an entry with List Type *LNK, it may
fail with MSGBRM181E.
3. In V5R4 and above, when option 7=Expire is specified for
media in a list generated by the Work with Media using BRM
(WRKMEDBRM) command, the media may not be expired.
4. V5R4 and above, if *YES is specified for the Expire media set
volumes (EXPSETMED) parameter when the Start Maintenance for BRM
(STRMNTBRM) command is run and a volume in the middle of a media
set is expired, multiple media sets will be created. The media
sets that are created may be incorrect.
5. In V6R1 and above, when the Start Maintenance for BRM
(STRMNTBRM) command is run, messages MSGCPF5035, MSGCPF5029,
MSGSQL0407 and MSGCPF6708 may be in the job log.
6. In V6R1 and above, when a save of library QUSRBRM spans
media, message MSGCPF37A0 may be in the job log.
7. In V5R4 and above, if option 3. Display backup analysis is
selected from the GO BRMBKUANL menu, option 4=Remove may not
delete Saved Items.
8. In V5R4 and above, if *FROMFILE is specified for the Type of
copy (OPTION) parameter and *YES is specified for the Copy media
information (CPYMEDI) parameter when the Copy Media Info for BRM
(CPYMEDIBRM) command is run, only the first sequence number for
*SAVSYS saves are added.
9. In V5R4 and above, volumes not enrolled in BRMS may used if
media class *NONE is specified in the media policy.
10. In V6R1 and above, when the Save Save Files using BRM
(SAVSAVFBRM) command is used to save save file data to an
optical device, it may fail with message MSGMCH3601.
11. In V7R1 and above, if multiple objects are restored from
parallel save media, the restore may fail with message
MSGCPF3791.
12. In V7R1 and above, the Duplicate Media using BRM (DUPMEDBRM)
command may fail with message MSGBRM170A and MSGCPF3698.
13. In V5R4 and above, if an object cannot be saved during a
BRMS save, the message data for message MSGCPF3741 may be
incorrect.
14. In V5R4 and above, when the Start Backup using BRM
(STRBKUBRM) command is run for a control group that contains a
*LNKOMTONL entry, a Domino server crash may occur if the Domino
transaction log directory or Domino DAOS directory is not
located in the Domino data directory.
15. In V6R1 and above, when data is saved from library QUSRBRM
and the save spans media, the save job may hang.
16. In V6R1 and above, when the Start Backup using BRM
(STRBKUBRM) command is run for a control group that has *NO
specified for the Append to media field and indicates to do
parallel saves, the save may incorrectly append to active media.

17. In V7R1 and above, when using a language other than English,
the 'Report Definition Properties' panel for BRMS Enterprise
displays English information in the 'When to run' section.
18. In V7R1 and above, when using a French language, some
Enterprise panels will be missing apostrophes.
19. In V5R4 and above, when restoring from parallel-parallel
save media, the restore may fail with message MSGMCH0603.
20. In V5R4 and above,  when the Start Maintenance for BRM
(STRMNTBRM) command is run, MSGBRM400C may incorrectly be posted
in the joblog.
21. In V7R1 and above, when option 4. Change network group is
selected after the Work with Policies using BRM (WRKSYSPCY)
command is run and enter is pressed, the BRMS Media Information
Local Receives values for the systems in the BRMS network may be
incorrectly changed.
22. In V5R4 and above, the list of save items, presented when
the Work with Media Information (WRKMEDIBRM) command is run, may
have the incorrect control group associated with QFILE entries.
This may affect other BRMS operations such as the Duplicate
Media using BRM (DUPMEDBRM) command.
23. In V5R4 and above, when a user, that inherits *SECADM
special authority from a group profile, runs the Set User Usage
for BRM (SETUSRBRM) command, it will fail with message
MSGBRM4023.
24. In V6R1 and above, when the Restore Library using BRM
(RSTLIBBRM) command is run and data area QUSRBRM/Q1AALWPART or
QTEMP/Q1AALWPART exists on the system, the restore may not
include all qualified objects.
25. In V6R1 and above, when doing a recovery on a system that is
in restricted state and from media that is owned by a different
system, the recovery job may hang.
26. In V5R4 and above, BRMS network synchronization may
incorrectly delete saved item information.
27. In V5R4 and above, saved history item for save file may be
missing due to BRMS network synchronization.
28. In V5R4 and above, media may incorrectly have an expiration
date of *PERM if it is associated with a media policy that has a
Retention type of Versions.
29. In V5R4 and above, the QBRMSYNC job in the Q1ABRMNET
subsystem may hang with a status of MSGW while waiting for a
response to message MSGMCH1202.
30. In V6R1 and above, performance of restores from save media
that is owned by another system and is not encrypted has been
improved.  Use the following command to create a data area to
indicate that save media is not encrypted:
CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1ANOENC) TYPE(*CHAR)

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE57508' :
-------------------------------
Load and apply this PTF.
After the BRMS PTF is installed, do the following to enable the

BRMS
plug-in for the IBM Systems Director Navigator for i5/OS (web

brower)
or System i Navigator windows client.

Enable the BRMS plug-in for the IBM Systems Director Navigator

for i5/OS.
==== V6R1 and newer only:

System i Navigator folder; a list of all installed
System i Navigator components and plug-ins is displayed.

c) Deselect the BRMS plug-in to uninstall it (if you do
not
see the BRMS plug-in, it was not properly installed);
reboot the PC if requested.
3) Start System i Navigator.
4) Use the System i Navigator "Install Options->Install
Plug-in"
action. This action is available from the main iSeries
Navigator "File" menu and the "My Connections" folder
context/pop-up menu.  When prompted for the iSeries system

to install from, select the iSeries that has the new BRMS

PTF installed.

=== V6R1 and newer:
1) Close the System i Navigator application.
2) Open a Windows Command Prompt screen.
3) Enter the following command:
cwbinplg /REMOVE=IBM.BRMSPlugin
