Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels. This PTF may be a prerequisite

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

Concurrent Maintenance domain power on/off operations may fail
for adapter resources that are assigned to the partition. If the
concurrent maintenance operation is being performed from
Hardware Services Manager, the following error will be
displayed:
"Failures occurred that prevented the concurrent maintenance
action from completing. Attempt the action again. If the
problem persists, contact your service provider."
Domain power operations may also fail when using the Power
On/Off Unit option from a Hardware Management Console.
CORRECTION FOR APAR MA42654 :

After applying the fix, supported concurrent maintenance
operations will be allowed.
CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR MA42654 :
--------------------------------
Power on/off of an adapter can be performed if the adapter is
not assigned to the partition. A circumvention of the problem is
to DLPAR Remove the adapter using Hardware Management Console
(HMC), then use the HMC's Power On/Off Unit option against the
target adapter.
