Abstract
OSP-F/QPQCPINT-T/QPQCPINT-MSGMCH0602 PDJ JOB FAILS WHEN USING
TAGG INFORMATIQUE IPDS CONTROLLER
Error Description
PDJ job fails with MSGMCH0602: Boundary alignment of pointer or
template not valid, when using TagG Informatique IPDS
controller. The controller is a utility that runs on a PC that
routes output to a physical printer. The controller is
providing the IPDS emulation. This controller works on other
platforms, however fails on IBM i.
From the trace data:
In the OPC reply from the printer, the first self defining
field returned was a x'0010' 'Media-Destination Self Defining'
field. Next self defining field sent was a x'0001'
Printable-Area Self defining field'. Followed by the remainder
of the self defining fields in sequential order by hex value.
The code assumed that the x'0001' would always be received and
processed first.
Since the 'x0010' was received first, the 'Media-Destination
Self Defining' process made an unexpected change to a variable
later used by the 'Printable-Area Self defining field'
procedure for its pointer address calculation.
This resulted in a misaligned pointer address calculation and
the QPCCPINT 'Boundary alignment' error listed in the PDJ job
and caused the writer to end abnormally.
Problem Summary
PDJ job fails with MSGMCH0602: Boundary alignment of pointer or

controller. The controller is a utility that runs on a PC that
routes output to a physical printer. The controller is providing
the IPDS emulation. This controller works on other platforms,
however fails on IBM i.
Problem Conclusion
This PTF corrects a defect with PSF not parsing XOH-OPC replies
from printers or intermediate devices correctly, resulting in a
MCH0602 error. While this problem was reported using a TagG
Informatique IPDS controller it could happen with other
controllers. PSF has been corrected.
